Fiskars Group strengthens climate ambition with updated science-based targets that aim for more significant emissions reductions across the value chain

Fiskars Group has significantly strengthened its climate commitments by setting more ambitious science-based emissions reduction targets and committing to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across its entire value chain by 2049. The company’s updated targets have been approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), reinforcing the credibility and robustness of its climate strategy.

The updated targets accelerate Fiskars Group’s emissions reductions in the near term while introducing a clear long-term pathway to net zero. They replace and exceed the company’s previous commitments.

New science-based targets

Near-Term (by 2030)

  • Reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 70% from a 2017 base year
  • Reduce absolute Scope 3 emissions by 40% from a 2018 base year

Long-Term (by 2049)

  • Reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 90% from a 2017 base year
  • Reduce absolute Scope 3 emissions by 90% from a 2018 base year

Net-Zero

  • Achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across the value chain by 2049

Previously, Fiskars Group targeted a 60% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions and a 30% reduction in Scope 3 emissions by 2030. Net zero has been an internal target for Fiskars Group since 2024, and the target has now been approved by the SBTi.. The updated commitments substantially raise the level of ambition and extend accountability across the full value chain over the long term.

“These strengthened targets mark an important step forward in our sustainability journey,” said Kati Ihamäki , VP, Sustainability & Public Affairs.

“Climate action is integral to how we design, source, manufacture and distribute our products. By aligning with the latest climate science and committing to net zero, we are accelerating our efforts and working closely with suppliers, partners and customers to reduce emissions throughout our value chain.”

Approval by the Science Based Targets initiative confirms that Fiskars Group’s targets are aligned with the latest climate science and the goals of the Paris Agreement to limit global warming to 1.5°C.

Focus on value chain impact

Fiskars Group continuously invests in its factories to increase operational efficiency, actively identifies energy efficiency opportunities, and advances the use of renewable energy. As most of the company’s emissions originate in the value chain, collaboration with suppliers and partners remains central to achieving its targets. Fiskars Group works closely with suppliers to increase transparency and encourage the adoption of science-based climate targets. The company has set a target that 80% of its suppliers by spend covering raw material, component and finished goods will have science-based targets by 2029. This goal has similarly been strengthened. The previous target of having 60% of suppliers set science‑based climate targets was reached in 2024.

Other sustainability targets remain unchanged

Fiskars Group’s other sustainability targets remain unchanged and continue to guide the company’s long-term development. These targets are:

  • A majority of net sales from circular products and services by 2030
  • Zero harm with a zero Lost Time Accident Frequency (LTAF)
  • Inclusion Experience within the top 10% of global high-performing companies

With its strengthened commitments and long-term roadmap, Fiskars Group aims to contribute meaningfully to the global climate transition while building a more resilient and sustainable business for the future.
