Fiskars wins two Red Dot ‘Best of the Best’ Product Design Awards for the 5th consecutive year

The Red Dot Design Award is one of the most prestigious design competitions in the world. The Red Dot: Best of the Best is the highest distinction in the competition and is awarded to pioneering designs. The products selected by the Red Dot Jury to win an award may be aesthetically appealing, functional, smart or innovative, but what they all have in common is their outstanding design.

This year, Fiskars has been recognized with two ‘Best of the Best’ Product Design Awards, one for the Fiskars Norden outdoor cooking collection and the other for Fiskars Oscillating Sprinklers. Both products are great examples of Fiskars' design DNA, which is rooted in Nordic design, minimalism, and connection with nature.

“We’re honored to receive these recognitions. Pioneering innovative, ergonomic, and efficient simplicity isn’t easy. Every aspect of any product has to be thought through, and there needs to be a purpose for each detail. The challenge of designing simplicity lies in understanding both what you are creating and knowing when to stop, ensuring the product isn't burdened with unnecessary details”, says Fiskars’ Chief Design Officer Petteri Masalin.

“We want to create products that are a joy to use again and again, not only for a couple of years but throughout people’s lives, for 60 or even 100 years. Quality has been at the core of the brand since 1649,” Masalin adds.

Throughout the Red Dot Awards history spanning back to 1955, Fiskars has received 64 awards in the competition. 2024 is the 5th consecutive year for Fiskars winning the ‘Best of the Best’ Product Design Award and 16th consecutive year winning an award. This year entries came from 60 countries with the Red Dot jury made up of 39 experts from 20 countries on 4 continents. They covered various design disciplines. The experts assessed the submissions based on the four basic principles of good design: the quality of function, the quality of seduction, the quality of use and the quality of responsibility.

Best of the Best: Fiskars Norden outdoor cooking collection

One of the products awarded with the Best of the Best Award is the Fiskars Norden outdoor cooking collection launched in 2023. The collection draws inspiration from Nordic nature, culture, and traditions and then reinterprets them in a modern timeless way. The Norden outdoor cooking tools are designed for outdoor environment and grilling but can be used all year round in the kitchen. The tools are crafted of premium materials, such as heat-treated birch and oak, high-grade stainless steel and cast iron.

Best of the Best: Fiskars Oscillating Sprinklers

The other product to be awarded the Best of the Best Product Design Award is Fiskars Oscillating Sprinklers portfolio. The portfolio consists of different adjustability levels, allowing the possibility to choose the best option for any garden. All sprinklers are equipped with a universal quick connector that also works with other brands and intuitive controls ensure a quick and easy set up. The sprinkler’s leg pivots for easy, compact storage and features an integrated hang hole. The sprinkler’s clever design results in an innovative cleaning solution, enabling long-lasting performance.
